As it says on the tin, my SD 190hp Auto only done just over 5,000 miles and we now have a flashing warning on the instrument panel, (DPF filter). I understand this "thing" is in the exhaust somewhere along the line, but before I ring LR in the morning I would like some info if possible, oh and the cure so I don't get fobbed off.

Cheers

DPF filters are the worst thing they ever fit. The fix for yours will be a replacement. If you do not get it sorted then the next stage of the problem will put the engine it into limp mode. If its under warranty then fine, if not then the best option is to get a bypass and a remap. If you do a lot of stop/starts and around town driving then once a week you need to get on an open road and drive it hard to clear the soot deposits or the problem will return soon. In my opinion DPFs are just a licence for the dealers to print money

Aye, thanks for that. I have a guarentee from LR as I got this brand new. My main concern now you explain the problem to me, as is it's only done 5,000 miles, most of these miles are local runs which will continue throughout it's life, therefore will it want "fixing" at 10k 15k 20k 25k say. If so it must be a design fault I asume. As an aside, its drinking fuel at an alarming rate, is this a by product of the DPF jobby by any chance do you think.

Thanks
