Hi All,

I have a 2015 Range Rover 4.4 SDV8. The centre screen (radio/nav etc) is temperamental.

Start vehicle, screen loads up as normal to home page but touch screen does not work. The screen functions as normal (current location changes, heated seats screen pops up when button pressed etc) but the touch screen is not receptive.

Drive vehicle for 5-10 minutes and switch off for a few minutes then back on, touch screen works perfectly.

Thinking logically, I don't believe it can be the touch screen itself as it does work. A local RR specialist has confirmed no software update available. They have suggested new head unit (part number LR079586 and manufacturer number FPLA10E889AK).

Has anybody come across the issue before? Is there anything else I can try?

Many thanks

James

As per the L322, two golden rules, check battery and get diagnostics on it. If specialist has had diagnostics on it, ask them what it said. Not what they suggest , but what diagnostics came back with.
Maybe @Tigger Eeyore & Roo can help? If it is not a big, major, affects comfort or ride issue, I personally would not be looking to replace a head unit at this time. I have recently replaced the head unit in my L322, after living with a blank screen for quite some time. Now I have a drain that seems to be coming from it.
So , explore the easy things before doing the big things. Especially as head unit is £1600 ish

I've seen this recently in a 2016 citroen c4, scoff you may but it's the same issue, 450€ and his screen was rebuilt not replaced as they can't keep up with the demand.
Similar to when your smart phone starts to bug out after two yrs or so.......

Best check them both be on the safe side, have seen 405 has two batteries not worked out why yet.
