I've got a faint scraping noise (same noise you get when brake pads are starting to go) coming from the rear o/s of my Freelander 1.8 T plate...

I think it may be a wheel bearing....

Before I jack it up to do a closer inspection, I presume the 4WD feature will not allow me to rotate the rear wheel on it's own?

How do I do this without having to jack up all fours?

Any ideas for my diagnostic strategy before I get going tonight?...

All thoughts welcomed! :)

maybe a long shot - but are yu sure it aint a stone got lodged somewhere - sometime that can sound pretty awful.

Helow jatwap!

should just be able to jack up the one side to spin yer wheel.
should be obvious once yer giv it a spin,(maybe).
mad hats stone theory sounds good,or if the back plates a bit rusty they can sometimes touch the disk... (Nugit) the back are on drums aint they,
so the drivel i just typed wont apply, more likly to be a worn shoe/of its full o dust.you'll be able tell more once yer get the drum off;)
