Hello
Sometime ago, I had the obligatory gearbox replacement on my '54' TD6 and ever since the TV and SatNav have not worked and the options removed from the menu. Not a problem for me, but possibly the first thing anyone else will look at when I eventually come to sell. I suspect the fuses 8 and 49 were not removed when the gearbox was done (by gearbox expert, not necessarily RR expert!!).
Can someone point me in the direction of what to fix? The SatNav disc is still buzzing away, the fuses are fine and the rest of the stereo functions work on the head unit.
Many thanks, Chris

Hi
Thanks for the suggestions.
I've spent the afternoon working on the RR, including replacing the main battery (therefore the car was powered down for an hour and fuses 8 and 49 removed). Now, all back together, the SatNav and TV options are still missing from the menu unfortunately.
It does sound like a reset of some description is required.
I maybe tempting fate, but I've done 215k miles in her and this is the only electrical item that is not working!!!!
Chris

215 k miles !!! ?

Well done !

What mileage was the gearbox replaced at ? And had it been changed before that ?

If the power has been removed without waiting for the red light to go out on the sat nav unit, it may have corrupted the flash memory. They can be re-flashed and there is i believe a place in the UK that can do it, there certainly is in Holland.

Thought once the flash memory was corrupt it was fecked....

I know the unit can be re-flashed with updates, but I thought once it was corrupt, it wouldn't re-flash....

Have heard of the company in Holland but I thought they only did hardware repairs and not software corruption (and I could be very wrong)

Flash memory is just rewritable memory such as you find in SDHC & compact flash cards for camera's. It's just the data that gets corrupted and the data can be re written if you have the data files and the equipment to write it back
