Met a guy in Essex last Sunday in a defender, using a sat nav for laning! Anyone use one? Of so which one? How well does it do os mapping?

I use Memory map on an ipad. Which I think is what you mean, rather than paper maps.
It does exactly what you need it to do, OS maps which you can track where you've been and mark lanes onto.

I use Anquet Outdoor Map Navigator on a Google Nexus 7. Great for laning, and I can plot TROs and routes as overlays onto the maps.

Yep, MemoryMap on 1:50k on the IPad. Works a treat. Some of the mates use laptops with 1:25k but I find its a bit too much detail.
Definitely, 1:50k is spot on while you're driving.

Looks like maps cost £8.99 but dosent say if its full uk coverage on memory map , bargain if it is!

If any lanes are in question it's just as easy to check on Streetmap at 1.25000 and add a note to the 1:50000.

I may have some maps on an old comp although the lanes are so out of date its hardly worth the effort. a map and local knowledge is always best

the only issue it has is it needs 3g/wifi to get maps, so launch it and browse the area you need before you set off so it has it cached
