I have a 2009 TD4 XS. The manual says that the dvd player for the sat nav is under the drivers seat. I can't see one under my drivers seat or the front passenger seat. The sat nav is a Garmin nuvi 1400. This is my fourth Freelander since 1998, so I am fairly familiar with them but this has got me puzzled

Erm........ If you have a Garmin isn't that mounted on your windscreen? Maybe im being daft.

The genuine land rover sat nav is part of the touch screen display unit mounted in the centre of the dash. If you have it and sat nav through that screen then the dvd unit is access from the rear of the drivers front seat.

Otherwise tis a non-genuine unit and will use a non-genuine ecu.

hi Vissie, this is the factory fitted sat nav with the touch screen fitted above the radio. There is no unit under the drivers seat that is big enough to take a dvd. The sat nav works perfectly, I only got interested when I though about updating the disc.

is it deffo factory fit ?

the only reason I ask is there a few sat navs (tom tom, sony to name but two) which fit perfectly, and I mean PERFECTLY in the space about the radio.

Have a sony in mine, and it looks as if it was there from the factory.

as far as I know, the factory sat nav wasn't by Garmin.

Loads of info on Freel2.com

edit: I've look up the nuvi 1400, and it is deffo a retro fit. Therefore there will be no dvd player under the seat.

Well I'm flabbergasted, my flabber has never been so gasted. When the sat nav is switched on the Land Rover logo appears on the screen, but I guess your correct. Still, I can stop worrying about now.

I know in the early days of tom tom it was possible to mess around with the menu screen to make that bring up a logo, maybe that's it.

(ready to be corrected...)

Star there is a massive upside!

I bet Garmin satnav's are a **** ton cheaper to update than a LR one! :)
