Has anyone a list of specs regarding the instalation of ne bearings in a 110 salisbury rear axle from a 300tdi. Going through the internet has fried my brain. I just need to know preloads, backlash and torque settings.
Anyone done this and have a link?

I seen Mikes rebuild but its very stop start and he didnt replace the pinion bearings.
Back to the shed to see if i can remove the carrier bearings with the amazon puller which broke trying to remove the pinion bearings' before it goes back for a refund.:)
 
Hi if yor replacing the bearing, and by the look of them its a yes, then I would just remove the cage and rollers then cut a slot in the cone the split it with a cold chisel, to get them off, I have just done a 57 year old Morris Minor Diff , to replace them I put the pinon in the freezer for 24 hours, and wormed the new cone and rollers in a warm oven for an hour not to hot, and what I thought was going to be a nightmare, was easy the new bearing just dropped all the way down a perfect fit 10 mins later after it was all tight

this how i did the pre load on my Morris diff, ok so it he preloads is 30ftlbs at 1 inch then thats equal to 3 lbs at 10 inch, I used a tight nut and bolt on the flange , then added a 10 in ring spanner , hooked a welding rod in the free end and put a plastic milk container on a set of food scales added water until it read 3 lbs the hooked it in the spanner, so if you spanner is longer it needs less water, if it shorter it need more water OK

OK I did get a lot of flack about it I was told it not accurate enough, it went quite when I pointed out that's why it has a tolerance of 30 -40 ftlbs, its not rocket science, anyway aim for a lower setting rather than the high one say 30 -35 lbs
