Any days to avoid for laning round Salisbury Plain? Was originally thinking of a Monday/Tuesday. But will there be lots of red flags flying and restricted access?

On weekends you may encounter others in certain areas . It’s that vast you can just go any where.
Flags more likely down on weekends at short notice.
Start tidworth & work your way accross. I do not plan routes on there just have general directions as so many permissive ROW you just keep driving.

Weekday driving will be quiet. And you can drive round perimeter if the flags are flying.
Have a hard copy map gos can be a bit out.

What sort of places/lanes you looking for ?
Water mud ?

I find the flag info a bit erratic at times, checked before and it's clear but flags are up. Even so you can usually drive to another part and its clear.

Bit of everything really, don’t mind a bit of mud. I missed out on our annual Wales trip due to a knee injury. So we are looking at doing a 2 nighter beginning of October. We will be staying in a B&B between Andover and Tidworth. Heading down from Bedfordshire.

Have Trailwise, off line OS mapping and physical OS maps.

We did Salisbury in 2018. Very hot and dry that time. But that was over a weekend. Happy to do weekday as there are usually less people on the lanes.

Plenty of water around 9mile river. The last part of this lane is 1 way(from 9mile to bulford) very tight & fun

You can loop all round this area on permissive ROW and byways

Start point tidwotth tank crossings & use the malbough road track to loop round
As long as flags are down you will be fine.(you can see the flags from tidworth as your on the boundry road
Also if unsure just wave a landmark person down & confirm with them. It’s better to ask than be told off
