Replacing the pinion seal on my Salisbury diff soon. I'm going with marking the nut and casing then counting the turns approach. Any useful hints before I get started?

Figure I will replace the cork gasket on casing whilst diff is drained. I've seen a few people suggesting to use blue hylomar on it whilst others say just a bit of oil. What's best?

Any advice appreciated, cheers Richard

Pinion seal now done.

Cover gasket per service manual... " Fit the differential cover and new gasket, coating both sides of the gasket with Hylomar PL 32M or an equivalent non-setting sealant".

Hylomar website suggests that this is just Hylomar blue (now the aerospace version, but when the service manual was written it meant the original stuff). Info @ Hylomar Sealant

Off back under the landy.
