Sticky

Hello,

Can anybody help??

I have recently fitted a safari snorkel and done all that it advises on the instructions.
Whats the best way to test it is ok apart from taking it swimming.

Stick!!!

Dint someone try stickin a plaggy bag over the end of it ?

If its air tight it should stop yer enjin !

but the person in questchun endin up with his enjin full o bits o plaggy bag cos he dint keep howld of it tight enuff!

dunk it in ther baff ..... at the none tap end cos you'll scratch it if yer not careful...

or ya could try a little squirt of wd40 around the joints , if yer engine revs go up its leakin .... but dont use to much , just a bit..

Yeah blocking it should stop the flow of air to the engine if its air tight but like mondo sez dont let the thing you block it with get sucked in!If its small enough you can use yer hand.

Tried putting me hand over the end, engine struggled a bit herd some hissing noises from the air box i think, then it sucked the intercooler hose in which caught on the viscous fan pulley.Engine never stopped though.
Does this thing have to be completly airtight cause im thinking you've got to silicone all air pipe not just the ones that the instructions tell you to.

Sucking water into an engine can make it go bang-hence My 110 dont move very much these days!Blew a hole out of the side of the block about 4 inches square!

i know in the air box where the inlet goes in it seems loose like it fits in then snapps tight, might br getting in there, as i sealed the small hole in the bottom of the airbox when i put it on.

trouble is the damm thinks on with half a tone a silicon, we all know how bloody hard it is to get off.

geta mate to block it while you ha a feel round see ifyou can feel any of the sections leaking. If you dont get it fixed its just an ornament

an expensive one too.
I'll have a look tomorrow if i can get away from the missus bloody decking project.

Prioritise!
But that probaly means keeping the missus happy/quiet if your anything like me!

I'll be upset if it's got to come off, im going to go around all the hoses first with silicone, up to the inlet, intercooler, turbo pipes the lot, before taking it off again.

don't think i can get the silicone gun up the wheel arch to dog some more gunge round though.
this could be difficult.

Be careful with car washes! My local autolavado tooking a liking to the plastic grill and beat it up good and proper.

I fitted a metal replacement from one of the suppliers in the UK, no prob since.

regards

Dave
