Well first few lessons have gone well! But I have a leaf spring question.

In the manual it mentions shackle wind up but I have no idea. Our 109 is sitting much lower on the passenger side and I wondered if this could account for that or maybe the springs are fitted to the wrong sides. I can't find any numbers stamped on them and by the look I'd say they're original but I know previous owner had them off to replace bushes. It makes sharp right hand corners a bit interesting! Any advice gratefully received
Matt.

I would take some time measuring and trying to work out where the difference is, it may not be obvious. Count the leaves and look to see if any are broken. From the number of times its come up i would say there is a chance someone put the springs on the wrong sides, but that's assuming they are different, the rears are not handed and only some of the fronts (there's a chart somewhere). Do check everything, my LWB had a lean on it and it had one odd size tyre! (I'm as sure as I can be it had 4 tyres the same when I bought it yet 3 days later when I got it home it had one odd one.....I paid the kind of price where you accept these problems, but I'd still like to know)

Thanks,
My gut feeling is that it is the front, a visual check and they look fine. The only difference I can see is the gap between the top spring where it curls round the shackles is larger on the passenger side if that makes sense .
My last encounter with leaf spring problems involved a P4 110 rover, a hacksaw, blowtorch, large hammer, drift and lots of swearing plus I was half the age I am now!
