Hi All,

I have just started fitting the RX8 after grinding all brackets and studs off, I mounted the Mud rails into the original LR seat bolt holes but when mounting the above seats the rails are 2cm wider than the seat rails.

Is this something others have come across or have I missed something - I know there is a really good thread on here about the fitting these seats but it did not mention this.

My original LR bolt holes are 45cm apart and the RX8 seats are 43cm apart.

Any help or advice very much appreiciated!

Not sure about mud rails but yes, the rx8 seats are wider. Are you keeping middle seat? If so, get as tight as you can to it or the drivers door will hit the switches. On mine it held the switch on causing the fuse you blow.

Thanks Mick, with mine its the other way around in that the LR bolt holes are the wider of the two by 2cm.

I can possibly force the RX8 seat frame to stretch the extra 2cm but not sure it will be damaged over time by doing that.

When I fitted mine I experienced the same mounting width issue. In the end I used some 2x1" steel box section and simply drilled offset to fit the seats and original mounting points. Never quite understood why folks pay £40 for a bit of steel bar painted black!

Don't forget to modify the passenger seat base so that you can access the battery. I used M8 thumbscrews to allow mine to be removed.

Why not just buy a Mazda?...just joking!!!...be carefull guys regs might change talks around modifing bikes muted...here we cant fit anything non manufacture option and that includes tinted windows..

Moving to Spain if that happens! This country is turning into a right s__t hole. Will that mean that all the vehicles that had been on the road with mods done will have to be scrapped or converted back to standard?

Well thats a curve ball...lol...you will not matriculate a non-standard vehicle any snorkels/winch/lift kits non standard wheels etc no chance..

I just realized your in Portugal lol, understand your post now! It will be a sad day indeed if those regs ever become law here in UK.

Yeah I know, in Spain we would be looking for a country finca or similar with land away from everyone so we can be left alone and be self sufficient as much as possible. Trouble is its a car with room for 4 and a big dog we need so might have to get something boring and not eye catching in any way. Hence selling the landy for the move - was hopeing that i would get a year or 2 out of it first though.

Long story short, last 2 years have been sickening seeing all the bull**** and corruption everywhere and Im lucky in that all I need is the internet to do my day job. So with the massive rises in cost of living, moving to a hotter climate with land cheaper than here seems like a no brainer.

Do not and I mean dont bring a UK plate car to Iberia if you intend to live here...buy in Spain it's vastly more expensive for a used car but the less hassle pays for itself...

I think its a worthy trade off. My current contract ends in Feb 2023 so will be doing all the very low level research closer to then but the advice is very appreciated. I guess that`s the reason many people drive around in battered cars over there, too expensive to replace for some people.
