Hi,
I have some small amount of rust bubbling through my paint work on my 1988 defender.
I have some rust remover gel, is this any good?
I plan to get her re-sprayed next year, so am trying to do as much of the prap as I can.
I thought about treating the rust, sanding the paintwork down then over to the prof's for the primer and painting?
any advice? Please

I found the rust remover gel to be ok. Clean and remove as much as possible first then apply.

If you've only got a small amount of rust on a 1988 90 then you're doing well..and paint it yourself!! A prof paint job will cost more than your landy is worth..dead easy job. Loads of threads about it if you do a search.

Cheers Buddy,
I am sure i have more that I can see, but starting on the bodywork first, before I look under the mats!!!!!!!

I find the Hammertie KURUST a really good product. The runny liquid one, paint it on and it goes black and solid.

I'd look under the mats first...if your footwells are shot then you can buy replacements rather than buggering about trying to fix them.

Where is the rust? Any pix? Generally they go by the door hinges, bottom of door pillar and underneath the window...
