as described in the title, i have a rust hole about an inch and a half on the inside of the drivers door hinge pillar, at the bottom near the floor.

I am just wondering if this is a common place for this to go, and what can be causing this, there seems to be a plastic cup type piece of trim the other side.

I am going to weld it but, i presume i would have to take the drivers side wing off to get to it properly, and after remedy it, so it doesn't happen again

not really sure how to go about doing it, it's in an odd place

cheers

It's very common. Make sure you get plenty of paint and/or waxoil on it once you've reapired it or you'll be doing it again before you know it.

Well yes as a matter of fact I do. Steel + water/salt/poor quality paintwork = rust. It's a disco, it was born to rust.

i was thinking of something more sinister, like one of the front sunroof run-off pipes ends being there or something...but yes i am finding things everyday that have rusted beyond recognition :D

mud water salt etc enters between the wings and gets trapped there. and rots it away like wise the inner wall of the footwell rots away. for the same reasons.

ahh i think this is the part rather than the part i attempted to describe...
