Noticed on my first road trip with my 2003 Lifelander that I heard a rumble in the rear end, I think, and a vibration at around 80 mph. If I accelerated to 100 it would go away. Sounded like I war running over corrugated road surface. Any suggestions?
Hope it is not serious.

Hi,
Mine started making a noise like that (wouldn't admit publicly to speeds though), and it turned out to be the centre prop bearings. Try taking the prop shaft off, and driving with out it: it does work fine - apparently lots of people drive as front wheel drive only.

If I were you I wouldn't even contemplate anything near those speeds until I'd had the transmission thoroughly checked over, and if you're not sure of their recent history the brakes too!

Mine did this when i bought it too. It was fine under about 40 but as soon as i got over that it was deafening. ended up needing a new rear diff, shafts and hubs. It was all really notchy. I wouldn't drive it front wheel drive, it can feel really floaty under acceleration, but thats my opinion. also, i think you need a blanking plate to take the propshaft off to stop stuff getting in the IRD and stop oil coming out, don't you?
