Is the petrol expansion/catcher tank (Part No. NTC 4628, located behind the OS rear wing) really just a large carbon filter to collect fuel vapours from the petrol tank or does it actually catch any overflow of fuel?

I ask because one of those "dent away" people drilled a hole in my inner rear wing to reach a dent and, although they did not puncture the expansion tank, they did make a significant indent in it and I am wondering whether I need to replace the tank or if it would be sufficient to fill the indent with epoxy glue or a petrol tank repair kit.

Does anyone know how thick the steel is that is used for these tanks?

Thanks

As long as it's not puncured it should be fine. Fill it with some filler if it makes you feel better.
