Hi all,
I’m currently restoring a 1994 classic. It was not started for a period of 2 years while welding was carried out. In July this year it was put back together mechanically. However, the original fuel pump had failed. This was replaced in August with a new one. Come November, this pump had failed. It was replaced 2 weeks ago. Now my 2nd new pump also appears to have failed.

I haven’t had a chance to test the pump properly yet, but is there anything that could cause the fuel pumps to fail like this? The last two had dead motors when 12v was applied directly to them.

Thanks

I'd be getting a genuine Facet one - which might take a bit of finding - but the price should be an indication.

The worst parts I have ever fitted to my LR have been Allmakes - so I automatically steer clear of them - OMO

Should have mentioned that both pumps had only run the car 2-3 times at most. I’ve not got it back on the road yet. It ran fine last Saturday, now nothing.

You could fit a Facit in line pump under the bonnet.

Possible bad batch.
Had similar with RRC waterpumps some years ago. Fitted first one & as soon as system got up to pressure leaked from the pump nose. Took it back, got replacement & same thing happened. Took it back, got refund & one from another supplier. No problem.
