A minor but irritating problem, which some of you guys might have come across.

Every so often the front n/s electric window on my 1988 RRC jams in the closed position. To release it I have to remove the door card and undo the three bolts holding the motor to the door frame and pull out the motor. Then, without touching anything else I refit the motor and it then works fine for a few weeks until it randomly decides to jam again.

The problem is definitely mechanical, not electrical. I can't see anything being 'released' when I remove the motor but obviously something is happening to jam the mechanism. The glass doesn't seem to sag between jams, and trying to lift the glass in the frame while operating the switch doesn't release the mechanism.

Any ideas?

Had this with my 89 classic same window, think you will find the problem is with the motor it was jamming because motor bearings and gearbox were dry, stripped my motor re greased bearings and gearbox and that cured it.

The motor moves freely, and when it's not jammed the window goes up and down quite smoothly, so I don't think it's bearings etc.

By the way, at one time I removed the regulator mechanism and freed off and lubed the hinges so it's not that either.

When it works it's all fine, which is what makes the jamming so frustrating!

Mine was just the same Pete, motor ran free, window up and down no problem, found if you stop the window just before it hits the top it didnt jam its only when it stalls at the top it jams, decided it was either new motor or strip old one. seem to remember its bit of a fiddle getting motor apart to lube motor bearing/bush but it cured it.

If not fully closing it is the answer, maybe the regulator mechanism needs adjusting/moving up inside the frame to stop the regulator moving to the end of its travel.
