I was struggling to find a steering wheel boss for my discovery, it has 29 splines. I managed to find an old rover 214 in a scrap yard, steering wheel was a lovely fit, its only a standard one , but so much better than the disco original.

Good work mate. Worth posting that cos all rover models over the years can provide donor wheels for discos! :)

200 has Austin metro fitment, 300 is rover 100 fitment...

Cool , wheres the centre dial pod from ? Looks good . Wonder if the Rover 600 wheel fits , they did some good levels of trim in those , maybe a heated leather wheel ?

Oh , and ignore Noisy , PM me if you have a winch to sell !

Dont know if the steering column was common across the range or if it changed 200 to 300 , maybe have to measure and count splines ...someone will know , JM , or Hat , or Fanny ....

All the steering wheel hubs i looked at were either 36 or 48 splines, which seems to be the norm. Not really sure why some have 29 splines, but they seem to be in the minority ? The centre pod came out my old shogun :) The centre horn push is from the disco steering wheel, straight swap for the rover one.

Are the pods a factory fit or an aftermarket , do you know ? Cos it will be cheaper to get one out of a scrapper than buy a new one - they are surprisingly dear for a little bit of vacuum moulding/GRP ....the bloody gauges are cheaper !

I will have to have a look when I go to weigh in , theres so many cars getting scrapped at the moment that its really hard to buy a cheap runner under 500 quid , the metal price is good and you dont have to tart the thing up or have it sitting til it sells , so it seems that everyone in the trade is just weighing . Batteries is a good tickle so take them out first if you scrap a motor and put the battery in as lead . Whatever...means theres loads of cars in the yards just now , so plenty to choose from ! Im gonna try a Rover 600 wheel !

Lots of jap 4x4s have pods in them, old troopers, pajero`s, toyota surf etc. The shogun one i used, took a fair bit of modding to get it in !!! I only used it, cos i had it lying round. Otherwise i would have gone for the mudpod on mudstuff.co.uk. Regarding the steering wheel, count the splines on your vehicle first, then when your at the scrappy, you`ll have an idea of whats going to fit. I also got the indicator canceller, and trimmed it to suit the disco.

I have looked on ebay and people are selling them for silly money (as in lots) split into component parts ....I will wait til I weigh in next time and have a mooch ....I saw a renault scenic intercooler there that looked like it would do a basic non aircon 300 nicely , bigger even than the volvo 760 TD one that i have used before . Plus theres always those handy little fans off tiny cars that fit in for extra 300 cooler cooling when summer towing...Im like a kid in a sweetshop !
