i have 1988 defender 110 with one rotten body mount. can anyone tell me are these bolted or welded , shop says some are bolted but ones on car are welded can i change for bolted sorry thats a rear off side
1st what do you mean by body mount??? defenders don't really have body mounts in the same sense as say a discovery does. the tub is bolted directly to the chassis out riggers and a couple of brackets at the front. there is also a length of channelling on each side that carries the footwell floorplates and if it's a CSW then they also carry the passenger footwells. So I think a picture or a better description will be needed in order to provide you with anymore help.
If its a 110 CSW then there is a body cross member which is bolted to the chassis forward of the rear wheels - this holds the front part of the rear tub in place. Other than that you have outriggers and the rear crossmember which are all welded to the chassis. You can't bolt them on as they won't be strong enough to hold the weight and it will fail the MOT.
