Can people give recommendations and links to what the best rope is to use for recovery. It will be for a series 3 so ideally it is in keeping with the look of the car as well being practical.
Kinetic ropes have their place............. but its a bull****/scary/bollocks/idiot statement to say they are the #1 ..........They are VERY dangerous in an amateurs hands.... its like saying you can dig a hole with a scalpel.A kinetic energy rope (KERR) is the way to go. Just make sure it’s of suitable tow rating. Then pick your length.
If it’s for off road use then a longer rope can be handy.
Loads to choose from. Have a look on eBay or any 4x4 outfitters.
Make sure you have good recovery points. They should be solid with spreader plates and high tensile bolts.
Look after the rope too. Don’t leave it out in the elements or have it tied round the bumper like some trophy (looks rather naff too IMO).
Strops shouldn’t be used for recovery really. And normal nylon or hessian ropes have very little give and can be brutal to recovery points with high shock loads. Kinetic ropes are much kinder in this regard.
If it’s for towing on road, consider a towing bar.
Nope. This is a total misunderstanding of what is going on. Any dangers that exist with kinetic ropes exist with regular ropes too. And arguably as a normal rope is far more brutal to recovery points, with higher shock loadings, then you are more likely to have accidents with those over a kinetic rope.Kinetic ropes have their place............. but its a bull****/scary/bollocks/idiot statement to say they are the #1 ..........They are VERY dangerous in an amateurs hands.... its like saying you can dig a hole with a scalpel.

Kinetic ropes work brilliantly for towing. Again because they are NOT brutal on recovery points. They remove the snatches and jerks that occur when towing and remove all the shock loading on the recovery points. Towing with a strop on the other hand is hugely brutal to recovery points. As well as unpleasant for occupants of both vehicles.Basically you need different items for different situations, strops are great for anchoring to a tree to allow pull from a winch and also for general towing. A kinetic is an elelastic rope not used for general towing but as a recovery aid, in some situations it’s the only method of recovery but can be brutal on recovery points. Don’t make the mistake of going to Halfords and getting there 2 tow rope. Also you need a selection of shackles for connecting said rope to the vehicle
kinetic rope was never designed for general towingKinetic ropes work brilliantly for towing. Again because they are NOT brutal on recovery points. I learnt a neat one the other day, pop the steel cable in an old spare tyre...i use a heavy chain and i have an old steel cable which is plastic coated, i have pulled a few cars and so on with it.
i dont like snatch straps as you drive off and then it takes up slack and can rip stuff off.
just use old chain or cable and keep it in an old canvas bag so it dont make noise and scratch the hell out of your floor.
