The seal for this is MTC4994, but mine seems to have some kind of mastic sealant round the outside. Is this a bodge job or should the mastic be there. I need to take the roof off to renew the lower frame to bulkhead seal.

I used a marine grade Sikaflex some 23 years ago and it has been fine, dont remember any rubber seal

Mine had the same. i belive it was calking like they used in the gutters or dumdum depending on year from the factory. i guess most will be some sort of silicone by now to solve water ingress.

I replaced the seal mainly as an anti rattle and then used tiger seal along the windscreen join and around the awkward coners.

I’ve decided not to split this joint. I can just tilt the roof up enough to renew the bottom bulkhead seal. I was thinking of removing the frame to paint it with the windscreen out, but it’s too much of a faff and I’ll do it in situ. Cheers for the replies 👍

There are two seals between the roof and the screen frame. I split mine to paint the screen frame, replaced the seals and its been ok since then.

More leaks are due to a failed glass seal which isn’t really that difficult to replace if you warm it first.
