Hi All.

I am hoping the great minds here can help me out.

My good lady and I have recently started camping again, and TBH the amount of stuff we have to take totally fills the car. So we needed to consider several options - take less (Isn't going to happen!!) a trailer but that would need a tow bar and a trailer or a roof box.

I had a look at roof bars and boxes and they all seem to need "factory fitted" roof rails - which my car doesn't have.

Is there a removable (port to starboard) system that fits into recessed runners without the need for rails to be fitted?

If there isn't, is it possible to retro the roof rails and at what cost?

Many thanks. Kev

it would help if you posted what motor it was for lots of roof bars about and theres always a roof rack...me i just combined the two..:D

LOL - What a dispstick I am...... I should have just mentioned I have a 2005 Freelander TD4, 3 door with the removable hard top. :)

TOLD YOU!!!!

yes there are roof bars available. Best place to look is ebay matey.

the genuine landrover ones are proper pricey mind! I have the over the top roof bars and then some universal roof bars mounted to them.

Thanks for the advice. Having looked at the related costs there seems to be very little difference between getting the roof box option and tow bar with trailer......

roof box means that your not restricted to the middle 2 lanes on the motorway

more parking options
