Hi All,

I have a rocking drivers seat, does not rock dramatically but enough when you brake and accelerate. Has anyone else come across this and does anyone have a quick fix apart from new seat or runners. From what I can see it it rocking in the runner and is driving me nuts.
Any help / ideas gratefully recieved.
 
Mine does it..

There was a TSB on it IIRC.

No idea regarding the fix..

you have to remove the plastic trim around the bottom of the seats to get to the bolts. My money is on them having come a bit loose and now letting the seat wobble. Torx T50 bit on the 4 bolts that hold the seat to the body... just give them a crank up a bit and it should be fine.

Edited to add:
if its the whole seat and frame that rocks, the the T50 bolts will need tightening.

Otherwise if it's just the seat that rocks, but not the frame, then it could be something broken, or there's some slop in the linkages that hold the seat to the base.

Has been known for owners to have a tack weld on the metal seat frame itself.

There's a TSB to follow, which I did, but made no difference. My current "fix" is to lower the seat as far as possible, so the rock is minimised. Since then I haven't given the issue a moments' thought - but it's still there
 
I had a brand new Porsche that came with a rocking drivers seat, according to the dealer it was "normal". :rolleyes: A big hammer on the runners sorted it, the dealer than complained that the seat wouldn't move when it went in for service. Heap of German crap.

Not improved by welting it with a big hammer I imagine :rolleyes:
I have to say I'd rather have German 'crap' than UK, though admittedly I've never owned a Porker.

Every German made item I have bought has proved to be very poor, from a vacuum cleaner, through washing machines, a BMW, a Porsche and a caravan. Both the cars were disaster areas from new. On the other hand, my XJS was totally reliable, even my P38 has been much better than either German car.
