Hi

Ok, so i've got a few jobs on my 02 disco V8 one of which is rocker cover gaskets and intake gasket.

I don't mind getting oily, but was wandering how technical the job is ? It looks easy enough but is there anything I should be looking out for or doing when I tackle this job ?

Thanks

Nope it's not too bad, got to take plenum off to get rockers off, then got to take ram housing off to get inlet off, but just be careful when doing valley gasket not to let any **** fall into the engine, which it will if you don't clean up properly.

Oh bollocks just noticed D2 V8 so different inlet manifold setup, anyway same basically applies but no it's just nuts and bolts. You will need gasket sealant and coolant too.

Ok thanks !! So the intake manifold comes away revealing the valley gasket ? I also notice the accelerator cable etc on top - can this come away with intake manifold ? Also where is the best point to drain the coolant - am guessing at the bottom of the radiator ?

Thanks for your help :)

P.s. I do have the rave cd but it always better to ask experienced peeps :)

Hi mate

Yeah inlet manifold and valley gasket is all in one on these engines so just 12 bolts to remove from the mani and it all comes off, leaving you with this:

Yeah the throttle cable is best removed, just so it's out of the way, only a 2 minute job to disconnect it.

And yes just pull the bottom rad hose, get ready for a huge gush of coolant, more than you expect. If its in good condition you can reuse it but you will always need more! Make sure you don't mix red/pink and blue/green coolants!!!

Nice one thanks for that :)

So I think I have pink coolant in mine albeit I will check with dealer I guess as to which one to use :)
