evening all, I currently have on my 2000 TD5 Defender 33x12.5 adventuro mud terrains. They are good tyres but I’m after some tyres more for road use but of an almost similar size. The more I look the more confusing it is! I could buy rims and get tyres fitted but for example I have no idea what tyres would fit on 16x7 rims everything seems to be measured in different units.

Any suggestions? I’m guessing something like 235/85R16 would be a similar height but what rims would I need? All tyres I look at of that sort of size are off road tyres and alloy wheels are all quite small plus alloys won’t fit

Yeah it seems ok on 33’s I wouldn’t need road wheels quite that big but too small would look wrong. Found some nice 235/85r16s used but they’re on alloys which probably won’t fit

Actually they might fit but I don’t want to have to buy them to find out!

I do wonder what is the point of a lift and big road biased tyres? Is it just a styling exercise?

Cheers

Not really, no. The road tyres are for the road and the mud tyres are for the mud. Don’t really want to be changing the suspension everytime we go off roading!

Why not phone one of the usual 4x4 suppliers and explain what you have and what you want .

They will be able to explain what you need regarding wheel and tyres size including the offset to match what you have already fitted.

Cheers

I was hoping to just get cheap used so hadn’t thought of that. I don’t particularly want alloys I’d rather have steel wheels
