I was looking for a world wide road planner so i can get some ideas of costs/distances for an upcoming trip.

Does anyone know of such an online tool that i can use? Tried google but it can't calculate it

Happy to use maps etc for the trip, just want to get some ballpark figures to start with

if its mainly mapping the distance I use Google Earth. This gives a good guide. If its Europe RAC routeplanner is very good. I manages to budget all of the Alps trip distance and the bulk of the Morocco trip with it. I have used goole Earth for our next trip to Siberia. Obviously this is not completely accurate so I add in some zig zags and round it up. Its not far out. The best bet to get an accurate milage from a trip is to ask those who have been. Its likely they will visit the same places, same length of time, same detours etc.
