DVLA says, year of manufacture 1986, but first registered Aug 4th 1999, bit odd. Door locks are the later larger size too. But doesn't have tdci seats. Not seeing much from 1986 on it.

Wouldn't mind taking a look at it

It's got the Td5 onwards cross member, with the hole for the electrics.

My 85/86?same electrics it's had the body tags ground off and the jacking tubes are welded later ones are not welded on the x member face

hole for leccies are td5. 86 didn't have em

though new chassis replacements can have td5 xmembers or replacement xmember

theyve also fitted a late model dash and clocks...

systematically changed most parts to a late model one....

The rear body tags have clearly been ground off. X member is c reg vintage. Depends what axles but the body change is low points.

When Lr started their money saving ideas the hole went, later followed cheaper steel and either thinner axle cases or indeed Russian steel which lead to rusty axles pans considering one side has oil on it it's mad they rust through!

google any defender pre td5.. no holes unless chassis change /xmember replacement

or maybe it's not so simple? (ie nas spec or something)
