Hi, Looking to upgrade wheels on my 2004 TD4 from the present 195x80x15 to a bigger tyre/rim as I am going caravanning here in Australia on crappy roads.

Looking to buy wheels or recommendations on sizes?

16" rims give plenty of tyre choice, mine's running 235/70x16s (Disco2 and Cherokee size - plenty about), plenty of room without a lift kit. Look out for one of the epic tyre threads...

Just watch out that the wheels come from a Freelander with the vented disc setup. Your problem is the offset of the early wheels being too shallow to clear the later brakes. You could fit 5mm spacers (to clear the bigger vented disc cailpers) but you'd have to check legality in Oz. Despite all the nay-sayers, those spacers will leave you with 11+ full turns of the wheel nut engaged, so shoudn't cause too much concern.

Thanks for the advise with the discovery 2 rims, have sourced 16" steel rims, new are expensive but he might be able to supply 2nd hand at a good price. will let him know about the LR2. LenV

Disco 2 wheels have the wrong stud pattern, but Jeep Wheels will fit. I was referring to the 235 70 16 tyre size being as used on Disco 2s, so loads available part worn.
