Hi all noticed that my 200tdi auto has been revving high at idle and was wondering what might cause this ?
Been told by a automatic tech that that's just how the 200tdi autos are but to me it doesn't sound right. The rev guage sits at around 12 to 13000 at idle, also when in slow traffic it seems to pulse ?
Really bugging me now

Check cable has free play and that the throttle arm has free play when in the rest position, ie its touching the stop on idle.
If unsure google Bosch VE pump idle screw loads of info out there.
The mech sounds like a bit of a knob!

Bang on that mate cheers
The cable hadn't been adjusted right was to tight
Gave all the mechanism a clean off and lubricated spot on now

Im not sure on the 200 but with the 300 auto you can also adjust the kickdown cable at the injector pump linkage

yeah you can not sure if I want to touch that or not it seems to be alright but then again I wouldn't know with it being my first land rover and first auto haha

Well if it works fine and you are happy with it leave it alone.
Always a good tip to mark anything before you adjust it so you can return it to its original setting afterwards if not happy.

may have a play with it at sometime see if I can adjust it more to my liking
