Hi all
I have a 300Tdi and whlist driving it today i noticed that the revs incress and the engine nosie gets louder but there is no power. This happers throughout the gears and when i drop down a gear it seams ok again for a while.
I have noticed it seems to happern more in 3-5 gear and when the car requires more power (slight gradient etc)
it has had new turbo hoses fitted last week if thats anything?
any ideas?
Rob

Yes without your foot on the pedal your clucth is engaged to your engine allowing transfere of power from engine to geabox and beyond when you press the clutch you are disengaging the clutch from the box as a clutch gets worn out it slowly becomes partially disengaged (if you like) without any imput from you therefor begins to slip and you loose drive

thanks for that..

Ok so next question what clucth do people recommend for a disco used for greenlaning and towing a 1.5ton caravan?

I would just use the ome clutch they are rated to tow 4 ton as standard so you caravan is nothing

Borg&Becker are good so I've heard.

whatever you do, dont buy the heavy duty Britpart

Borg and Beck are now called AP Driveline, and yes they are the best you can get. Another decent make is Valeo.

Uprgrade the clutch fork while it's apart. The clutch slave cylinder has been know to push through the release arm and get stuck. Can't remeber who but you can buy uprated ones so I guess it must be a common problem.
