Hey there!

I would like to know is there a way to revert the firmware and/or software on the MK3 unit? It seems the previous owner has in a way bricked the unit, becuse the Service Mode is in basic mode (only 2 choices) and no GPS selection on the screen, even though the unit is in the back and seems to be working.

I can't even identify which firmware version i have, as it doesn't show it anywhere in the Service Mode (upper right corner usually), but i read that 3-1/32 should be the best fit for MK3 unit. Does anyone have a link for this FW?

Thanks for helping me out!

I think once the firmware in the Satnav unit is fecked - it remains fecked...the only option is to replace the unit...

Change it for the MK4 DVD based unit - the mapping is better, it uses a full Postcode search and is faster in use.

The Satnav unit can get fecked by simply unplugging the connector on the back or disconnectiong the battery before the red light has gone out....it is a very fickle and sensitive unit!

Oh and an introduction would have been nice :D

Hey, thanks for your post!

Yes, i read that MK3 can get bricked fast and is overall a vulnerable device. But it's possible to factory-reset it with the correct firmware (read it in RangeRovers.net). I already contacted the guy who mentioned it, so hoping for the best.

Which reminds me, in case anyone gets this issue, 9/10 pulling the fuse out (i don't remember which) waiting a minute & putting it back in will solve this.
I remember there was a guy selling his & he was like "oh yeah the sound doesn't play" back then i didn't know this otherwise i would've got an absolute steal on that.

Unless the diagnostic gear does this.. surely it's something LR can do, with that said, it would likely be cheaper to buy a new unit then pay LR's p/h rate.

That's interesting. Would be appreciated to know which fuse it is.

I believe it is Fuse 49 (30amp) from the glove box fuse box...

Pull the fuse for 10 minutes and see if that resets it.

If the firmware is corrupted the memory will need to be re-flashed. It can be done, there is certainly a place in Holland that does it, don't know about the UK though.

I mentioned the factory-reset as a way to do it yourself.

He said he managed to "reset" the device by installing the same 3-1/32 firmware by CD.

Took out the fuse, will see if anything changes.

Edit:

Pulling the fuse didn't change anything. It did make some "reset"-ish sound when putting it back, but the computer is still in "safe mode".
