I have a facelift TD5 with the reverse lights in the bumper and they do not work.

I've checked the bulbs and fuses (the share the same fuse as brake lights apparently and they are fine) and the R comes up on the dash (it's an Auto) with no warning lights.

I would like to get them working as I think they are stopping my reversing sensors from doing there job.

Had a look up at the transfer/gear box area yesterday to see if anything obvious and could not find many wires and they were all good that I could see.

Any suggestions.

Cheers

the reverse contact in the XYZ switch is the same for dash display, cruise controll and reverse lights... so if the R works on the dash it's not that, the lamps dont even share the same earth point so this is quite unlikely too, you must measure in one of the plugs between the pin with the green/brown trace wire and body with ignition on and reverse selected to see if you get feed there, then we can go further cos there is a connector involved which used to make tricks due to corrosion(it's often involved in courtesy light issues too), it's attached if you dont get feed in the plug check the same colour wire in C0484(pin 11) cos from there the feed goes to the lamps...if you get feed there we'll speak then

Hi.

There are two green/brown wires pin 4 and 11.

I have checked both sides of the plug with ignition on and reverse selected and there is no power

it should have been, check at C0668 pin 1(green/brown as well), there should be feed there otherwise the R on the dash would miss too...there are cases when the pins are mixed that's why the wire colour is important...do you have RAVE? cos it's not easy for me to copy paste all the connectors

Update.

I took out the window switch panel and checked the plug above and again no power to the green/brown at any time with engine on and in reverse.

I had the help of a good mate who is a qualified electrician and he used the fog light feed to send power back up the circuit and light the other reverse light so he tells me all the wiring from the plug near the handbrake is good as we got 12v up when doing this.

I found by feel where the connector is for the XYZ switch I'm guessing but could not test anything there due to lack of iron and having engine on due to flattening the battery. The exhaust was quickly heating.

I think it could be the XYZ switch.

Even with the reverse light on though the parking sensor would not beep so it may not cure that problem anyway.
