have just got an aftermarket 55mm rev counter to put in me 90,ive just fitted a genuine defender 200 tdi in it..how easy is it to connect a rev counter?..is it fitted to the alternator?

Simple. connect the wire to the W connection on the alt.

As above though, make sure its compatable.

I have a feeling that the main difference between them is that the petrol ones go up to 8000RPM.

How much/where from if you dnt mind me asking?

i know that petrol ones take the pulses from the low voltage side of the distributor - thats why yu have 4cyl and 6cyl ones. As the doozil ones runfrom an alternator - I assume there must be a relationship between the Alternator revs and the engine revs - must be the pulley size and will be critical.

It won't work. Bet you a tenner! It will show the revs ticking over at about 3,500 when you have the switch set to V8. (and then if you go for 6 or 4 settings it will x1.5 or x2 by which time tickover will be off the scale.)

Sorry to be a dampener, put it back on fleabay!
