Hi

wondering if anyone can help please

i’m trying to find a part number for the wiring loom that goes under the bonnet from the fuse box to the heated windscreen washer jets as i wish to retro fit some heated windscreen washer jets

searched for hours but just can’t find the loom

if anyone may be able to find the parts numbers i would be very grateful plse

that’s what i’m also thinking , have emailed a few companies but as of yet no replies
 
I've done this on my D2.
Just popped out the old washer jets and fitted D3 heated jets. Picked them up from an ebay seller. The wiring was nothing more than two wires, power feed and earth which I just twisted around the fluid pipes and covered with a length of flexible conduit and connected to the front windscreen heater power connectors at the bottom left of the windscreen.

thks, indeed from further reading it looks like the wires are part of a bigger loom

also wondering about piggy back the fuse off the mirror circuit as the jets are also controlled by them

found the wiring diagram , if i lift out the fuse box it will then be finding out what type of connector i need

another thought with u saying about heated windscreen, i haven’t got one but the connectors are there on the A pillars inside , wondering if i pressed the heated rear window if that’s what activates them or needs more switches etc , but already have an easy route from inside through the bulkhead to run the wires onto the proposed heated jets ???

see the discovery 4 heated jets are suppose to be improved , just so fed up with them freezing up all the time and would be so nice for once being able to keep the screen clean

Exactly how you connect them into the existing circuits is up to you, the official diagram does give you some ideas I suppose.
The one major thing you should consider is the route of your new wiring. Take into account of how the bonnet hinges open so that you end up with the wires neither being pulled too tight nor being too loose possibly getting caught up where they aren't supposed to be. That's why in my previous post I said that I wrapped the wires around the fluid pipes, thereby ensuring that I had the proper routing sorted out.
If you're worried about the current that the heaters might draw you could always build a small relay circuit to operate the heaters and triggered from the mirror heater circuit.
 
This is all too posh for me & my 110.
I just added a bit more old brake pipe & wrapped it around hot water pipe. No freezing water jets;)

Classic RR had these heated jets as standard:)

totally agree ref the route etc and wires getting stretched etc

my favourite at the moment after u giving me the idea is the wires for the heated windscreen , there’s 2 x spade connectors for a heated screen behind the A pillars and not being used

when installed the split charge system i used some trucking through the bulkhead and got some spare conduit to install new wires into

hopefully when i press the rear screen button it will make the heated front screen wires live , that way it’s also on a MOM type button and not constantly on

good idea ref the relay as well for that extra protection

the massive loom comes out of the fuse box and certainly won’t be touching that , could open a massive can of worms when there are more sensible options available

also where the rear screen button is the centre console is accessed very easily, the main trim just pulls off

trying to make it easy but more importantly safe and always over engineered
 
Really? Don’t bloody work then lol

have u put ur hands on ur wing mirror glas as they should be warm

when u can lift the bonnet up and look behind the bonnets insulation , u will see some wires going to the washer jets

check ur fuse under the bonnet, think it’s F12 is 10 amp

if it’s the jets that have failed buy the D4 ones as there improved

Did they.. my RR didn't, perhaps that was because it was earlier than the RRs that started have the Classic badge stuck to their tailgate :D

Front heated, and rear heated screens are on seperate switches; ie.seperate wiring as well

many thks , so that’s out and am slowly finding out and tracing the circuits via wiring diagram

wonder if the wires have been tucked out of the way on the main loom as it comes from the fuse box and then goes across the engine bay , as it’s part of a loom its actually finding out where the wires go from the jets backwards

also where that large loom on the scuttle panel is hidden behind the covers , can’t see them using a different loom from a base model to the hse

been trying to look online but alas no good

Also timer is different for front screen, rear screen stays on longer

many thks , also found out the heat pack panel is different from the base model to the hse ,

think the next steps will be trying to find out where the wire goes from the heated jets backwards , so then i can at least know where to look of it’s direction and where it eventually terminates , which from looking at the wiring is at the fuse box

knowing that will be a massive help and save wasting time trying to look into major looms etc

Perhaps as it's not considered a priority, after all it's something which is hardly used, my car has them plus the heated screen, steering wheel and seats, in the two years of ownership yesterday was the first time I switched the kit on, electric mirrors and seats which I never touch even on the disco.
Perhaps you should also consider the 'Hot Wash' or one of the DIY variety as a warm water spray across the screen works wonders, is something which I had on my RR as that was used anytime 24/7 and didn't stay on the driveway unused just because there's a few inches of snow on the ground.
 
The motoring organisations recommend that drivers use a proper screenwash fluid mixed at the correct amounts to reduce the risk of freezing.
The actual freezing problem doesn't normally affect the reservoir bottle but the pipes and the nozzles due to the difference in volumes involved.
A device such as "Heatshot" does warm the fluid as it's sprayed onto the screen and has a number of advantages over some DIY methods of heating such as winding the fluid lines around a hot part of the engine or cooling system. One advantage is that it's temperature controlled so that the fluid will never be too hot to either evaporate or damage the screen but is warm enough to improve the "grease cutting" action of the fluid, another advantage is that the unit has a small built in reservoir of warm water so that apart from the initial heating up period of about 30 seconds, there's always warm screenwash ready.
Such a device is installed between the pump and the jets, so it won't prevent the jets from freezing.
I forgot to mention a major downside, while it is effective, it ain't a cheap potion.
