HI All!
This time i search for your help on this:
Now that i have the power, i wanted to make the transmission more efficient on my RR. The thing is, the torque converter slips too much, making a lot of RPM for the intended speed... I have two options when driving:
the case being this:
Accelerate 'till the goal speed, lets assume 60kph:
Hit the gas, keep it in 3000RPM, and i am there in few seconds... OR
Hit the gas ( very gently ), keep it in the 2000RPM and take AGES to get there... ( if i am climbing something and keep it at 2000RPm, it will LOSE speed...)
If a acelerate more the engine speed climbs but there i'snt that thurst... or of i want fast progress i have the that it to 3000RPM, wait until the lock up occurs and then everything is ok. The problem is that the lock up only occurs in 3 gear at 60, or in 4 gear at 75... until there i'am making a lot of noise and not very much progress... oh! and obviasly waisting a lot of fuel...
Normaly i drive very slowly until the lock up and then on speed up.
I think this is a recorent problem with the diesel auto in P38s.
Now thinking of changing the torque converter, for one with a lower stall speed ( say 2000rpm ), has anyone done this?
Any opinions? Suggetions?
Many thanks
Cheers all! Oh.. and a nice 2009 everybody!!!
