Hi Folks,

About to carry out the replacement of the window regulator in the front offside door. It looks pretty simple from the description in the manual and some of the posts on here.

The one thing I'm not sure about is the rivets. On past jobs in different vehicles I've been used to removing bolts, however there are a number of references to rivets

Q1 - How do I remove the rivet - does it need to be drilled?

Q2 - What kind/size rivets do I need to get to replace them. (I noticed on another post somebody revers to Rivnuts? found their website but wouldn't have a clue what type I would need to order)

Any pointers advice - much needed!

Cheers

Did one on Monday, just drill the rivet head out.It wasnt till I got the lazytongs out to rivet the new reg in place that I realised I had run right out of 5mm rivets.I found 4 lovely little 5mm bolts and some nylock nuts instead - worked a treat.

i made the mistake of buying mine from L/R steeler 2 years ago and it cost £90, anyhow it came with rivets, probably @ £10 each knowing L/R.

I used M5 rivnuts & stainless button head socket screws which means that if & when the regulator is changed again, I don't have to drill the pop rivets out.You need the gun to clinch the rivnuts tight otherwise they will turn in the hole . R.S. Components list them, or you may be able to borrow one from a local sheet metal working company. Eightinavee used bolts and nylock nuts which also sounds a good alternative.
