So Recently my Freebee decided that while I am at the stealers ordering a boost control solenoid, it better go ahead and break the crank pulley as well, while i am there, cause that is just how it likes to do things. I sometimes swear it has a mind of its own and that it is a woman.
getting back to the point, I had a lot of fun trying to get the bolt loose on the old pulley, so I just wanted to share with everyone for future reference what I found to be the easiest way. sorry I did not take pictures, I will do so when it happens again, cause it is bound to.:fighting:
After removing the intake and starter to try and wedge the fly wheel without success( I do not have the landrover special tool), one of my friends suggested the following:
Put your socket on the bolt, with an extention and a power bar, not a normal ratchet, it will break and you will end up having to buy a new one, as was the case with my torque wrench. turn it towards your control arm so that there is about a inch between the bar and control arm. now, if you removed the starter like I did, put it back, you need it.
what you then do in turn the key for a second and release it, repeating until the bolt loosens. the power bar hitting against the controll arm has the same effect as a impact wrench.
just one more note, go and buy a size 22 impact socket, I broke 4 normal ones before the bolt came loose.
hope this helps someone!
