How difficult is it to replace a Petrol Tank.

My 1976 SWB Landy (Which just passed it's MOT :) - only problem cracked rear leaf spring:( ) has a small leak in the fuel tank, looks like a leak at one of the seams.

Do I need to order anything else apart from the actual fuel tank?

Als - Landy front seats - I would like to get some 2nd hand seats from the local scrappy - anyone got any suggestions ??

what kinda sender you got on yer tank? the tanks wiff the screw in senders are a bit hard to find noo so you might have to buy a noo sender with the clip fixing... are you sure it can't be repaired??

Yup, new gasket(s) for the sender unit - if you buy a new tank from Paddocks (about £40-£45 I think), they'll sort the right gasket for you.

I put a new one on my swb 1974, easy peasy.
BTW mine was MOT'd today and failed on a cracked rear spring. Why did yours pass?

Suppose both were advisories....

Did it just fail on one thing ? now that would be mean...:(

I welded my petrol tank up ,mine was also weeping from a seam...;)

a moment of bonnybaggotness there... aye the lwb are are abart 70-80 quid and the screw in ones are as rare as a straight hippo driver

you will need nuts and bolts all round to fix tank. You will also need to grind off old nuts and bolts. The tank mounting is a pig and is best drilles out.
