As I'm sure many of you have experienced my key fob has packed up - well in the middle of packing up anyway.

I spoke to my local landy dealer who quoted me £40 (For a new key fob) + £45 (Labour) + VAT - and they say it may not even work.

From research I there seems to mixed opinions on how it works. Some say they re-programme the key fob with a new code and some say they just keep the current code but I have no idea which is right.

I'm happy to post it somewhere and if that takes a week then I can manage without the beast for a week if needs be.

I'm sure one of you on here will know the best, cheapest and right place to get this sorted.

I live in Lancaster if that makes any difference.

Its a 1997 300tdi Discovery if that makes any difference.

There is a section for Discos. If you stick your problem in there you might get a bit more attention from other Disco drivers. Good luck.

Hiya, I've a spare 2 button one that you can then get reprogrammed, it has lucus 3txb MPT 1340 on the back, your fer a tenner plus a couple of quid postage.. PM me if you'r interested. I got it as a spare from a disco that was being broken and then found a programmed spare under the drivers seat

oh and is it a 1 or 2 button fob... a 1 button one you can reprogam youself

I have no experience of your key fob packing up, how come many on here did. I feel left out.

Well its his first post and he wants to reprogramme a key fob. You never know!! But then we all have to start somewhere I s'pose.
