on arriving home yesterday from a SLROC trial event, I discovered that the “new” noise was a sheared centre section of the exhaust.

I see there are straight through replacement available with silencer delete (I’m not replacing the whole system).

Has anyone who has fitted one advise on the noise level, I’m concerned that it might sound to much like a teenager‘s Vauxhall Corsa or have too much droning.

cheers

It’s just age and corrosion. It’s the original system that came with car, not replaced during the build as it was serviceable.

What engine is it?
I have a Td5 90 with centre box delete, makes next to no difference.
Son has straight through on his 200tdi, quite loud but sounds good.

If you are worried about noise then it might not be for you.
Sounds more like a tractor with no exhaust rather than a Corsa!
It doesn't drone so much on a motorway, more around town etc.
Does sound good when off road, laning and other such activities, only young once.
:)

I used a Disco back box only on my 200tdi 90
I shoved a pipe half way through it to cut the silencing a bit and it sounded good without being too loud, brought it out on drivers side as well to add to the experience :)

I run a 200tdi and I got rid of the centre silencer on mine. I didnt even bother with the special delete pipe, I just run two intermediate pipes but I am in a 110. absolutely no difference in terms of noise that I noticed.

Decided to use the straight through replacement, if too noisy, I’ll need to buy the silencer version.

let’s see how it goes.

thanks for all the feedback, much apprecrated.

now do I buy more tool boxes?

I find that odd. A mate has a Td5, remapped but also added the centre box delete. It is VERY noticeable inside the vehicle. Not in a bad way, but there is no mistaking the exhaust note.

Absolute must, hand in hand. I'm sure that the company you choose to buy the pipe from are offering a free cabinet with every section ?
Madness not to accept an offer like that, 50% off the second purchase too..

I took centre box out of my td5 and didn’t really notice the difference. Took the cat off with no centre box and there’s a huge difference noise wise. Don’t notice that much difference performance wise though
