Just been advised that I need two new front calipers discs and pads for my 4.6 RR.

Can anywone advise brands and suppliers from previous experience? Was going to buy drilled and grooved discs with mintex pads, but having read through the forum there would appear to be issues with squealing with the mintex pads??

Also I will do the rear discs and pads while i'm at it!!

Thanks

Joe

EBC get a good report "greenstuffs". If yu change tyoes, yu will have to change calipers.

If money is an issue don't forget what the original 'basic' braking system was designed to handle. A chuffing great vehicle going where a four wheel drive goes and/or towing trailers.

You might want to think of re-fitting standard stuff and using any 'spare' money to replace some pipes whilst you're at it. If your calipers are due for replacement and you're going to be under the car anyway then I'd be looking at the steel pipes that L.R. fitted and/or the flexi pipes.

If you're sensible you're going to replace the fluid whilst you're at it so why not grab the chance and do the rest of the system.

Good shout Dogs. Drilled and slotted discs are only for asthetics and do nothing OEM parts won't do for normal driving.

Absolutely right Tony, but if you have cash to spare, then the EBC pads that produce little dust to clag up the alloys are good.:D

i had a set of tarox 40 groove and ebc green stuff pads the life was very poor yes iam very hard on the brakes but only got 12,000 miles now have a set of unipart bembro pads done 11,000 miles just come upto half worn and still on the tarox 40 groove disc's.

standard parts are more than adequate for the job unipart supply bembro direct replacment in unipart boxes not a lot of people know that

Drilled n grooved discs, mintex pads, brake fluid and braided hoses ordered.

Thanks for the advice guys.

It beggers belief. Why would you post a question on here asking for advice, if before you wrote it you fancied drilled a slotted posuer discs and braided showoff brake hoses. The only sensible thing he has done is fitted good quality pads. Wonder if he got free caliper paint with the hoses. :D:D:D

lol I just had kwik fit replace all my discs and calipers using parts from UniPart ..... it was ****e weather, what can I say .. and they had the job done in an hour.

Point is I'm more than happy with the generic items, they work well and kwik fit guarantee's them for life.
(anything that has a guarantee on RR is good with me.............)

I think around 500 quid ..........
Im being vague because the tootal bill was 845, but that included 2 oil changes with filters (wanted it flushing - 9 litres oil each time) plus an MOT and full service on my beemer .......

I was well happy anyway .........
