I have a defective (original) alternator in my 1997 P38 4.6 and wanted some advice as to which brand is best. Island 4x4 sell ones by Britpart and Denso - does anyone have any thoughts or alternative products?

just went threw this my self opted for a rebuild cost all most as much as a new one and can only be repaired with original bosch parts mine is the 150amp type. it set charging point is quiet high compared to others or even so called replacements

The set point for a 150 amp unit fitted to a 4.6 should be 14.5 volts.

Have to admit to having a Britpart Alternator on my 4.0 P38 (120Amp) and it works just fine (so far - about 3-4 months or so :D)

Loads of re-furbished alternators being sold under brand names, nowt wrong with them or the unbranded ones imo. I'm sure ****part do not make alternators.
