Hi there, i'm not sure if this is the right place for my question but here goes........ I have a defender 90 hard-top, I am fitting side windows over Christmas (what a christmas present!!) the question is that I have an ARB full length roofrack and was wondering if due to it's weight it should be removed before cutting a big hole in the side of the truck??
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated, thanks

Hi Deb

The sides are not load bearing, providing you do not cut through any posts or the corner, im sure you will be fine.

Thanks Jim, didn't really want to take it off as it's a tad heavy! Don't think I will now I know the sides wont crumple under the weight!

I believe you are worried because there's this metal piece on the side panel that looks like some form of reenforcement. It actually is there to reduce vibration and also hold the side panel so it doesn't dent in too easily.

I've cut mine a long while back for the windows and it's doing fine.

Enjoy the difference.
