Hi, I have a 98 Freelander and wanna remove the OLD tape playing car stereo, but havent got any fancy tools the likes of Halfords and car theifs have, therefore was wondering if anyone out there knows how to do this? Any pics and genral tips/instructions would be much appreciated...

if i were you i'd keep the stereo an throw the gaylander away:rolleyes:


can't you use 3 or 4 strips of metal?
 
Go to halfords and buy the pins they are only about £3:D , either that or stick a couple of thin flat blade screwdrivers down the sides and lever it oot , while gouging chunks oot yer console :eek:
 
Cheers StevieB42... after seeing the guys @ halfords replace numerous stereos of mine in the past, I know is a well easy job, just needed/wanted to know where i can get those 'pins' you talk about, to get the dam stereo out, once out, plain sailing... that is unless you see another post come up soon!
 
some are not held in using the pin system, but just two allan screws, depends which head unit you've got. if there's just two holes at each end (eg phillips c42), then use an allan key to undo it then just draw it forward.
