Hi all.I have a 98 FL1 and she has decided to stop sending powerr to the rear tailgate actuator as well as continuously blowing the fuse to the tailgate window(i can live without that working).I have managed to open the tailgate by supplying the actuator with a seperate power source directly into the white connection on the bottom of the unit but have checked for power on the supply wired (black and purple) and there is nothing.I read on the forum that there is a relay located behind the rear passenger seat but cant find it.Is there a better location to make it eassier to find.
Thanks

Why would you need the back door to open if you can live without the window going down?

The window needs to go down for the door to open - so the 2 do not compute.

There-in lies the problem with your door not opening... it needs the window to drop before the CCU will power the opening actuator.

So your first job is to fix the back window issue. It may be damaged wiring, eg where the loom swings on the door hinge side, it could be the relays for the window (which is behind the plastic trim in the boot area) and highly likely in the regulator wiring.

If it was me, I'd replace the regulator, but it could be a complete waste of cash. Dunno if you could remove the (wiring) contacts off the regulator motor and plug something else in to then that will not blow fuses and press the window button to see if it stops it. I dunno how the CCU will respond to that because of the sensors if gets a feed from on the regulator. The relay is a double action relay (for up and down), still shouldn't be too expensive as a replacement to see if that's the issue.

The Rave workshop manual has full wiring diagrams so you can see what is in the window circuit, and pics of all the connectors so you can see where they are. Its a great resource...

Ok thanks for the info. Didn’t think about window and door connection. Will get window issue sorted first and see where that takes me. Thanks again

All sorted. No idea what the problem is/was but having spent nearly all day dismantling, testing ,thread reading etc I decided just to put it all back together. Everything now works. It’s some kind of Freelander witchcraft πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Got the window to wind up by removing the casing on the motor and exposing the windings. Put a cordless drill on the centre shaft and having worked out which way to wind it I used the drill to spin the shaft and up went the window. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘

Honestly, sometimes the latch release actuator gets stuck in the down position so when closing the door and pressing the handle the actuator does not move, I sometimes have to kick the s*** out of my rear boot then try the handle and it will open haha :)
