FFS, have you ground a hole through the diff housing?:eek::eek:

Not Yet but if Id kept going think I would have gone right through. :)
So, my suggestion of Fertan and wire brush didn't take hold. :D
There's some right awkward nooks and crannies on the axles and wheel assemblies. I'd be tempted to use Fertan and a few different sized wire wheels. ;)
Unless, you take them to get shot blasted

I looked at Fertan and others, theres to many to choose from. for instance whats the difference in these apart from price.

Wire brush on an angle grinder, followed by fertan ... used as per the instructions is good enough for anything IMHO.

I'd say you're wasting your time getting stuff too clean judged by your photo....

It only took about 5 minuets but I think your right need to slow down a bit. and do it right .

The first difference is that both of them aren't Fertan. Second difference is that they are both primers that claim to be rust inhibitors.
OK Where's the cheapest place to buy Fertan ?does it act as a primer to paint over?

Not sure, have a hunt about on ebay and Amazon? It's not cheap, but goes a long way.
No, it's not a primer. It's a pretty good rust inhibitor! However, you can paint on top if it with a primer. Or, use something like Rustoleum straight on top. Never used Buzzweld, but they might do something similar. ie an all in one paint.

I buy fertan off fleabay - it's about £30 for a litre .... Read the instructions on the Fertan site

www.fertan.co.uk

If done properly, it kills rust completely - and IMHO, the best bit is that it uses water to do so .... oh the irony :D

Overpaint with a good solvent based primer (tractol, for example also on the bay of fleas) and wear a mask, then topcoat with solvent based too. IME, forget the water based paints.

Unless that's a flap disk in the grinder, I would say that's a dangerous practice myself. Wire cup brush in a drill seems to work just fine for me on removing crap and getting ready for paint.

I've had good success with it. As Disco1BFG says, follow the instructions. I found the key thing was to ensure surfaces were degreased properly. Buy some Upol, Panel Wipe, or other type of oil/grease removing solvent.

Just a quick update, Got myself good Twist wire brush for grinder, much better, Cant afford to go buying the any dear stuff at the moment with been off work so just got a small bottle of Carust as to be honest there was not much rust on it by the time Id finished, just a little surface rust in the small hard to get places, so covered with this, then Red Oxide Primer from Tor Paints. Will order some Fertan later for any bad bits.
Starting to enjoy myself now cleaning bits up, gonna start on some radius arms and other stuff tomorrow.

Did you de-grease it?
