The red battery icon came up on the dash, so went about testing the charging voltage and she was sitting at 11.5V, so time for a new alternator.
Bought a Lucas from ECP at £160 so long as I return the old one. I managed to remove and replace without taking the viscous fan off, its tight but you can do it and I did a quick video to help others.
