Hello

We’ve decided to repair our Discovery 4
3.0 engine.

Can any of you guys recommend someone who’s reliable.
Not suggesting any of the below isn’t but rather go with someone who’s definitely reliable & does a decent job.

My first port is
JPSK motors
QPOnline
NWS
MDRS

Thanks Rob

I doubt anyone will recon a 3.0 and give you a decent warranty, Iirc new engine from LR was about 5k, might be worh asking.

Hello
Thanks for the reply.
Do you know what I might actually call them tomorrow.
I know I’ve been quoted 15k to £18800 for a LR recon one.
A lot of companies are offering to repair the original engine.

I always remember one of the names on your list saying they had reconned a 3.0, then serviced it every 5k , and it blew again 30k later.
A guy on another forum, always reckoned when the crank went it misaligned the block, and no matter what you did it was never right afterwards, he used to work for LR so I always took that to mean he had some decent info.

Give MMP land rover a ring, highly thought of on the disco3/4 forum, I know he is to far (Dundee) but he might tell you who not to use!

Thanks mate 👍

Yes, but what about "Smart Reconditioning"? Maybe someone should check if they are still giving such an outstanding service?

Thanks for that 👍
Definitely won’t be sending it to anyone like that hopefully.
Very scary.
I think you will find any that seem cheaper are the ones to steer clear of.

Problem is d3 values have fell through the floor, and early d4 are going the same way, so unless it is a late model it will not make sense financially.

Yes totally agree
By time I’ve spent out I won’t be far off from what I paid for it.
But then if I buy another car, I might end up with another bag of ****e.
Big decision to make.
We both love the car so it’s looking like we will repair it.

I pad 12k for my d3 10 yrs ago, and I always reckon 1k on parts alone each year, thats everything tyres/oils etc, add on 600 odd a year road tax and she is one expensive car.
