Hi, I have just bought a 2013 Freelander 2 and need a mount for mine and the wife's Smart Phone. I'd like a windscreen sucker mount with flexible neck but the phone charging socket is set back in the centre console. Anyone recommend some solutions I.e. what have you guys done.

I have always used the ones by brodit. Not sure if they do a windscreen mount though.
Google for their uk distributer...

i'm using a windscreen sucker mount with flexible neck from halfords
( sais 'halfords' brand on pack .. made in germany ) ..
came with dash mountable suction discs as well ..

i've mine mounted on the dash .. with a suction disc
has worked fine ..

and a socket extention lead .. plus 'Label The Cable' stick-on ties from Maplin

Label The Cable Mini 10 Pack Black : Cable Ties : Maplin Electronics

Cigarette Lighter Extension Lead : Accessory Socket : Maplin Electronics

plastic surfaces need to be clean and at room-temp to get those ties to stick properly

i've a hippo 'van' ..
and am using the load-space cage behind the front seats to mount a multiple socket extention ..
the extention lead goes from the cigar-lighter socket that's by the gearshift
back to the multi-socket thing .. then a long data cable for the 'device' ( phone/ipod/dash camera )
from the multi-socket back to the dashboard top
